Th institution, the Bankers' State Bank and Trust company, has already been incorporated, and if present plans go through the institution will be ready to open its doors within a month. The prime mover in the company is Charles J. Connor of 1220 Maple avenue. The other incorporators are Sims McGuire of 503 Briar place, Chicago, and Jerome Crowley, a Chicago attorney and assistant county attorney, who lives at 742 Marquette terrace. A good many prominent Evanston people have already signified their willingness to invest in the new institution. The bank will be located in the southern part of the city and according to its promoters will fulfill a long felt want in that locality.
Located Near Main Street: An option has been secured on the building formerly occupied by Lewis C. Downs as a tea and coffee store at 919 Chicago avenue. This is located in the Downs building, is near the corner of Main street and located in the center of the business section of South Evanston. The plans of the promoters are to have this building merely as a temporary headquarters and to erect a building for the bank as soon as feasible. When a reporter for this paper interviewed Mr. Connor, he stated that the bank expected to open with in a month, and in much less time if possible. The plan is only of recent origin and according to Mr. Connor has been inaugurated because of the urgent demand for a bank in that vicinity. More details of the plan will be formulated within the next few days.
