- Wilmette Park District commissioners have decided to address safety concerns about access to areas south of Gillson Park's existing swimming beach after an Evanston teenager drowned last summer in those ungarded waters. A new stretch of fence will be placed close to the water all the way to the district dog beach. The fence is planned as a temporary structure that can be removed at the end of each summer's beach season.
