- The heat wave in July lowered attendance at Wilmette's Independence Day event according to Wilmette Park District Director, Steve Wilson. In spite of efforts to provide cooling centers for those in the Park, paramedics had to transport one person to Evanston Hospital on July 3 and another on July 4 according to Fire Chief James Dominik.
