- Taxpayers United of America, the Oak Park-based anti-tax group that sued the Wilmette School District 39 in May, 2011 in an attempt to reverse its successful tax rate hike referendum, voluntarily withdrew the suit on Nov. 28. Wilmette resident Herbert Sorock, who fought the successful tax referendum, initially joined Taxpayers United as a plaintiff in challenging the legality of wording used on the ballot.
