George M. Coale, 84, of 856 Hill Rd., Winnetka, died Feb. 1 in his home. Mr. Coale was born in Alabama and began his lumbering career in Texas before moving to the Chicago area 50 years ago. He founded the George M. Coale Co., wholesale lumber specialists for railroad car builders. He had lived in Winnetka 25 years and was a member of the Chicago Club, Glen View Club, and the Tavern Club. Husband of the late Hazel Law Coale, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. M. Robert (Elizabeth) of Wilmette and Mrs. H. Mitchell (Ellen J.) Harper Jr. of Winnetka; a son, John B. of Delray Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Matthew Dutton of Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. L. E. Ingram of Houston; two brothers, Robert of Houston and Raymond of Beaumont; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 4 in the Hebblethwaite Chapel, Evanston. Burial was in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago.
