This company has 150,000 gallon storage tanks at Northfield, west of Winnetka and tanks oi 11),000 gallons capacity just west of Highland Park. The company maintains a fleet of eight Sterling tank trucks. Phil H. Braun is President of the company; Carl L. Braun, vice-president and Robert F. Doepel, secretarytreasurer. That's why Lloyd Hollister Inc., gave much consideration and thought to the heating system before taking the final step which resulted in the installation of a Heggie-Simplex boiler in the new publishing plant. In the sub:..basement of the new plant will be found the Heggie-Simplex No. 317, which is most modern in design and construction. The capacity of the boiler is 7,000 square feet, and it is of the dial code type. The heating surface is 550 square feet, with a grate area of 20.7 feet. The height of the water line is 78~ inches for the boiler which is ·91 inches in height. The width is 52 inches and length 115 inches. The width of the firebox is 46 inches and length 83 inches. The approximate weight of the boiler is 9,918 pounds. Some boiler? Yes, and some heat! ,, Filling tbe 3,000 Gallon Tank at the Lloyd Hollister Inc. E. Kilby, president of the Northwestern Heating and Plumbing company of" Evanston. This company supervised the installation. The system is of the steam type. Six and one-half inch pipes are used as leads to carry the steam from the boiler to the distributing pipes which carry it to radiators and other heating units. The radiators were manufactured by the American Radiator company and are of various styles. The temperature of the air throughout the entire plant is governed by thermostats placed at various points. Over 1,500 lineal feet of pipe ranging from 1 inch to 6~ inches in diameter, were used in. the system as steam lines, the radiat9.rs in the office supplying more than 1)00 square feet of direct radiation.
