The budget for thi~ year was made up after a meeting early in February at " hich representatives of the following causes presented their cases: Infant Welfare society, . Local Charities, Y. W. C. A., American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Near East Relief, Arden Shore association and Boy Scouts. Although notice of this meeting was sent to the Volunteers of America, which had heretofore participated in Chest funds, they had no representative present and consequently have not been provided for in the budget. Rec:eiYe New Requeat The Dental Clinic of the Gro5se Point Health Center has, since the February meeting, made request for consideration. If these two charities are to share in the funds to be raised this year, it will be because the annual drive proves so successful as to make adequate funds available in that item of the budget provided for emergency fund. There are always some who subscribe to the Chest funds who do not pay and this perce~tage for the last few years has run about 4 to 5% of the total budget. This special fund for emergency purposes is also intended to cover such needs as flood and tornado aid, which cannot in any other way be provided for in advance.
