They ran up 38 pomts, placmg in every ev.ent but the 220 yard swim. Evanston and Virginia, Minnesota were tied for second place with 13 pOints each. Neither of these teams won any of the regular eveats although Evanston got second place in the 100 yard crawl and the 160 yard relaY... They got mo3t of their points in the extra point relays. . Oak Park made the best showing of Chicagoland schools in the track events, getting 6 1-3 points and sixth place. Bowen High of Chicago was only ~ third of a point behind Oak Park. Evanston's trackmen managed to run up 3 1-3 points. New Trier only got 2 points although New Trier runners came in just behind the point winners in several events. . Marty ~a3sell started out leading h1s heat m the quarter mile but dropped to third on the second time a!ou!'d and. finished in that place. He d1dn t get an the points because the quarter, like most of the other events was run in three heats and place~ were given according to time. Ted Burgess started out in the front of his heat in the half ; but a Detroit ~unn~r, who ran like he had springs m h1s feet, pas·3ed him on the next lap and kept increasing his lead to hit the tape nearly 50 yards ahead of Ted who was as far ahead of the third man. The only meet record broken was in the high jump. George ·McHose of Havana, Illinois, and Robert Samson of Cass Tech, Detroit, both went over .the bar at 6 feet 2 and ~ inches. This is one inch higher than the record made last year. Carl Hall, the Green and Gray jumper, went pretty high.
