In spite of the severity of the weather the large hall was filled to its utmost cap~city. Upon a roll call being taken, it was found that there were 358 members present from fifteen lodges, the follow_ing towns and cities being represented: Beloit, Janesville (2 lodges), \Vhitewater, · Lake Geneva, Jefferson, Oxfordville, \Valworth, Evansville, Milton, Buueyville, Milwaukee, Fort Atkinson, Wilmette, and Evanston. Two handsome gavels were presented to Whitewater Lodge for having the largest percentage of its membership present. A large team from the J anesvilte Canton p:ave a very commendable sword dri11. Then a drum and fife corp, which was also from Janesville, played a number of selections that made a big "hit" with the audience. One of the snare drummers was a Civil \Var Veteran. 74 ·vears old, and hit wonderful playing ·brought forth many favorable comments. Adequattly Equipped Governor Zimmerman, who was scheduled to give an address, was unable to be present, as important executive business prevented his coming. After an exhibition drill by a staff from Whitewater Lodge, the lodge was turned over to the degree team of A. T. Sherman Lodge of Wilmette, who proceeded to confer the Third Degree on five candidates. Every one of the thirty men on this staff did excellent work, not only in the ritualistic parts, but also in the floor-work which followed the presentation of the degree.
