This is in addition to the Moscow Art Players great Russian film "Czar Ivan, The Terrible" which is being held over. for a sec~nd and final week. · · The film record of Sir Ernest Shackelton's expedition has been guarded in the British Government ar~h~ve~ for the past six years, and th1s rs rts first American showing. The fil_m is a vivid record of the struggle wtth nature among the grim white wastes that have held death for . so many explorers recently. The course of the expedition is the very same one to be pursued by both Commanders Rich_ a rd E. Byrd and Hubert Wilkins and their party of daring explorers. On this expedition Shackelton contracted a malady from which he died and he was buried by the members of his party on a little isfand in the midst of the desolate Antarctic waste. "The Street Angel," most recent costarring success of Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, will be shown at the Norshore theater for one week beg_inning this Saturday, October 6. ··The Street Angel" is a fit successor to "Seventh Heaven" and just as delightful a setting for the shining Miss Gaynor and Mr. Farrell. When "The Street Angel" was first shown in the loop a Chicago critic had this to say concerning it: " . . . . . . the story is of two lowly and lonely young people who find the answer to the desperate cry of their hearts in each other Their romance is a sustained and beautiful thing, like music-now glad, now sad; now dipping into the depths of tragedy, now lark-like, singing joyously close to heaven. And it weaves itself unforgettably against such scenery, caught by such photography as is rare on our screens even in this day of wonders. The musical score, haunting and ineffably lovely, charms you into thrilled ecstatic absorption." The picture is charming. Scenery, sets, plot, direction and music are excellent. As its stage production for next week the Norshore is offering a new show entitled, .. Melody a Ia Mode," with AI Kvale swinging the baton and his Jazz Collegians furnishing the music.
