The flag wa3 the gift of the Auxiliary of the American Legion, post 46, and was presented to the school by Post Commander Harvey Hopp. Mrs. Russell Johnson, Americanization chairman, who, with Lowell F . Todd, principal of the school, arranged the program, also spoke. Virginia McConnell, who won the prize for an essay contest recently conducted among pupils of the seventh and eighth grades at the Howard school, received the flag on behalf of the school.
