The sessions have heretofore been solely informal get-to-gether affairs for the purpose of talking over various matters of mutuaL interest to police and municipal workers, but now it is proposed to formulate a permanent organization. This. it is s'aid, will prohably be accomplished at the next meeting, scheduled for July 16, with the place of meeting to be selected later. Sam F. Lederer, of Chicago, formerly a resident of Winnetka, Chief of Police W. M. Peterson, of Winnetka and Chief of Police Henry Brautigam, of Wilmette, were hosts at Tuesday's gathering. A number of the men were accompanied by their wives. The short business session. and entertainment in which "Herr Louie" and the "Weasel" of the "Hungry Five" from WGN radio station were feature s, wa s preceded by a dinner. Freeman, of Evanston, with other members from his department were d.riven to the meeting in the Evanston squad car equipped with a radio receiving set. the praises of which Chief Freeman later extotled. He advised his fell ow chiefs to equip their cars with this means of speedy communication, ex.p laining that in two minute s after telephoning a catl to \VGN he can be in touch with · any of his squad cars, regardless of where they a:-e cruising. He said he expected to have every car in the Evanston de~ partment thus equipped. The rapid fire dialogue of Hank Miller, or "Herr Louie" and the snappy come-backs and inimitable chuckle of his "Hungry Five" partner, Hal Gillis, the "Weasel." were outstanding fea· tures of the program.
