Action Aplenty,in Field Even:ts ·Village Gr~e~ Wins in Drive to Swell Playground Roster The Village Green playground placed fir s t in the membership drive staged by the three public playgrounds during · the pa .:. t two weeks, having added a total of 159 new members to its roster during the days of the campaign. As a result of this victory each member of the playground will be treated to an ice cream cone at a special party for the new members given by the old. Second place was won by Vattman park children who succeeded in gaining 13(, new members to their playground during their campaign and as a result \Yill ha\"e a lollipop party with the lollipops furnished by the Recreation h )ard a s a reward for their work. The Central playgrpund added fiftyinur new members during the drive and a total of 3·19 members brought the a\·crage daily attendan~e of the playgrounds up to 820. A marked increased attendance is noticeable in each of the three p'taygrouncls and the record o f attendance for the first six. weeks is expected to he much larger than that of the first six weeks of last year. · The main event of next week's ,>rogram will he the annual sand-modeling contest \Yhich will he held at the Wilmette beach at 2 o'clock next Thursday afternoon.
