Strauss and company of building plans filed or permits issued in 579 cities in all sections of the country, there was a loss of 29% from the same month last year and of 3% for t~ half year ended ] tine 30. The declin~ from May was 16%, and, with the elimination of New York City, 14%. The normal seasonal variation from May to June in the principal cities of the country · is 11% loss and for the urban districts outside of New York, a proximately 15%. The volume for the half year just passed was $2,016,948,080 compared with $2,083,537,220 for the corresponding p~ riod in 1928. The same 579 cities reported $265,147,516 for June this ye.1r and $371,164,175 for June of the preceding year. In the group of twenty- five cities in which the greatest amount of activity was shown there was a gain for th ~ half year period of 47'c. the comparative figures being $1.315,237,985 .and $1,2(,J,8W,757.
