January 24, 1930 WILMETTE LIFE REDUCE LICENSE FEE The license fee charged by the Village of Wilmette for the operation of billiard halls and bowling alleys in the village was reduced from $25 to $10 for each table and alley through an ordinance passed · by the Village board last Tuesday night. The ordinance was submitted by Trustee S. vanlnwagen, chairman of the judiciary committee of the board. The banquet given b) New Trier High school girls for their fathers at the school mess hall Thursday night. ] anuary 16, was declared a decided success. The Girls' club of the school, which sponsored the affair, was obliged to close the sale of tickets before all requests could be filled. vVhile the "dads" were gathered around the banquet tables ' songs writ ten especially for the occasion were sung for them by their daughters. The "dads" respond ed with similar songs to the girls and were led in the singing by Willian:t Snyder, a New Trier faculty member. Following- the dinner there was a short program in the auditorium. A cabaret scene was 'presented on the stage, after which Beth Brower, Girl =- ' club president. gave a brief speech of welcome to the "dads." Mr. Miner, father of one of the girls, res ponded with a talk. The festivities 'vere then resumed in the mess hall, where the "dads" showed that thev were not too old to dance with their daughters. At the close of the evening's program the entire group gathered around the piano to sing old time songs.
