ZJ Rollin Pease, Noted Baritone Soloist, at Shawnee Jan. 26 The fa'c ulty members of the Chicago i\rt institute have many of their works i!lcluding paintings, drawings, etchings, and sculpture on exhibition during this week and next at Shawnee Country club. Among those who are showing their works here are Karl Buehr, ]. Allen St. John, Allen Philbrick, Elmer A . Forsberg, Jessie B. Lacey, Laura Van Pappelendam, George Oberteuffer, Albin Polasel{, and Charles A. WilitPnvsky. A musicale and reception were held. f(,r the artists last Sunday afternoon at the club. Rollin Pease, baritone, of Evanston, was the soloist for the afternoon. His program was preceded by a brief talk on the songs and composers, which comprised an aria from the Messiah by Handel, "Why Do the ;.Jations Rage?" "Invocation of Orph.e us" by Peri, the "Volga Boat Song." These were followed by three songs by Hugo Wolf. "The Song of Weyla," "Verhorgenheit," and. "Fussreise." Mr. Pease sang next three French numbers, "The Procession" by Cesar Frank, '·Ariette" by Vidal, "Algeries at Ev'"!niug" by Fourdrain, concluding his program with five American songs: "Prospice" by Sidney Homer, "Charity" l1y Hageman, "Seranade" by John Alden Carpenter, "The (~rcen River" also hy John Alden Carpenter, and "The I\oad to Vaux" by Van Grove. The piano ac..:ompaniment for Ur. Pe.tse \'·as played by Miss Hadassah McGiffen. During the reception and tea at 5 o'clock Mrs. C. Howard Searle of Glencoe and Mrs. Arthur B. Seibold of \Vilmette poured. Persons wishing to participate in these tours of museum exhibits conducted hy staff lecturers shou ld assemble inside the north entrance.
