Mrs. Helen S. Gage, North.Shore Pioneer, Is Claimed by Death Mrs. Helen ShepardGg,~io of Asahel' Gage, passed awav at the home of ber son, John -S. Gage, in St. Petersburg, FIa., last Saturday. Mrs. Gage . vas a member of one of WVilmette's pioneer familles. Born, lin the town of Warren, Lake count, fitI, on May-30, 1845, Mrs. Gage wvas married to Asahel Gage on December 18, 1867. She and ber busband then went to Chicago to live. After the Chicago fire they moved to Wauke- gan, where they lived for. about a year and f rom there moved to XVil- mette. In 1873 they built the residence now known as 1134 Elmwood avenue,' Minmette. Rieturna -ïo Wilmnette, In 1879, because of the health of Mr. Gage-, Mrs. Gage and bier husbaiùd moved to Vineland,-N. J., where they resided until the deatb of Mr. Gage lu 1893. After that Mrs. Gage witIL ber. family' moved back to th 'e old bouse in Wilmette. In this bouse she had resided until the ast two v'ears, whichi were spent at ber son's home in St. Petersburg. Mrs. Gage became a member' of the Woman's Club of Wilmette in 1895, four years after the club's or- ganization, and she served it as presi- dent in 1896 and 1897 and again ln 1899 and 1900, during which periods, according to a contemporary, Mrs. Gage "was a very efficient president and very muclh loved." .She also was one of the organizers of the Public Scbool Art league, one of whose purposes- was to, provide pictures for the varlous sehool rooms throughout the village.. Mrs. Gage served as vice-preMient of the Art, league for a number of years. Three Sons Survive Surviving ber are three sons,, John S. Gage of St. Petersburg, FIa., Asahel W. Gage of Clearwater, Fla.. and Prof. Victor R. Gage of Ithaca, ,N. Y., four grandcbildren and four great grandcbildren. The funeral services are to be held tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at the John S. Gage borne in -St. Peters- burg.
