The first of a series of studio afternoons to pre- sent young artists of unusual àbility, wiii be held March 13 at the home of Mrs., Burt Dennian, 21 Linden avenue, Wilmette, by the North Shore Alunma of Phi Beta fraternity and the patrons and patronesses of Alpha chapter. The artists are Miss. ClaraMaas of Wiimette, pianist, Mary 1Evelyn Burns and Fannie Ellen Hogg, students of dra- matic art. Miss Maas, whose technique 'and interpretation of Bach, are outstanding, received her Bachelor. of Music degree at the Cosmopolitan S<chool of Music' and, Dramatic Art, took aàadmic courses at North- western uîniversity, and also studied with Edwin Fiséfher at the* Musik Institut fur Auslander in Berlin,' Gèrmany. Atý the Cosmopolitan School of Music. she was the pupil of Daisy Waller Stephensi Ini addition to Music and dramfa there.will be a comprehensive exhibit- of the paintings of. Clara MaffGowan, assistant. prof essor of art at North- western university and. vice-presidenit of the Chicago, Society of Artists, and also an exhibit of the work of. Peterpaul Ott of Evanston, the scuiptor. who bas won , any European and American prizes. In 1934 he was awarded the Logani Medal for bis figute of "The tDmmoer, HaaldKreutzberg." At present Mr. Ott is working on a large figure panel in alaminuni for the new Kedzie street post office i Chicago. A short talk on these modern works of art will be delivered. Mrs. D. V. Gathany is president of the club and Mrs. R. C. Gessell o f Winnetka the chairman of the studio afternoons. Mrs. R. H. Sanineis of Evans- ton, is. prograni chairman, and Mrs. Myrtle L. Meels of Evanston, publicity chairman. Mrs. Gordon Cory is assisting with the publicity, and Miss Margaret *Nelson is in charge of arrangements. The chair- man of transportation is Miss Jessie Robinson of Wilmette. Serving on the hostess committee are Mrs. Paul Morrison, Mrs. Fred P. Burnhart, Jr., and Mrs. Robert Reani. -Recital by Cellist Leonard Krupnick of Chicago, fornieriy of 1844$ Forest avenue, Wilmette, will give a recital ini the Chicago Woman's Club theatre on April 18.
