Funeral services for Joseph J. Kutten, prominent North Shore coal merchant, who passed away suddenly Thursday of last week, were held Monday morning from his late residence 1201 Chestnut avenue, Wilmette, to St. Francis Xavier church. Interment was at All Saints' cemetery. Mr. Kutten, who was 49 years old, had been a resident of Wilmette since he was a small boy, and for the last quarter century had been associated with the Kutten Brothers Coal Company. He was a member of the North Shore Golf Club, of the Wilmette Rotary Club, and of the Wilmette Chamber of Commerce. He was a treasurer of the Eskimo club, organization of North Shore coal dealers, and it was at a meeting of that organization on Thursday that he was first stricken. He is survived by his widow; by two children, Robert and Joan; by two sisters, Mrs. William D. Leary and Mrs. Albert Odegaard, and by a brother, Frank, all of Wilmette.
