Ellis C. Latham, former resident, dies at Brooklyn

The older residents of Wilmette were grieved this week to learn of the death, Friday, April 9, of Ellis C. Latham, for many years a resident of the village, at Brooklyn, N. Y. Death was due to and [sic] attack of pneumonia.
Services for Mr. Latham were held Monday, afternoon, April 12, at Rosehill chapel, Dr. David Stecker of Wilmette, officiating. Burial was at Rosehill.
Mr. Latham was born in 1862, the son of Hubbard and Ann Latham, who were among Wilmette's earliest settlers, and came to Wilmette at the age of 12 years. He resided in the village until 1900 when he went to Brooklyn. He was prominently identified with the Wilmette Methodist church in its earlier days, and a member of Evans Lodge, No. 524, A. F. and A. M., at Evanston, with which he continued affiliation until his death. He was one of the organizers of the Latham Machinery company of New York and Chicago.
Surviving Mr. Latham are his widow, Bertha Allen Latham, three children, Harry Clifford Latham, Mrs. John C. Wray and Miss Jean Latham, all of Brooklyn; two sisters, Mrs. Lewis B. Springer and Miss Hattie B. Latham of Wilmette, and a brother, Carl R. Latham of Evanston, formerly of Wilmette.- Featured Link
